Joseph DeRosa
Candidate for Unexpired 2 Year term
Biography
I've served as a member of the Woodland school board for the past four years. Ten years ago, my wife Becky and our three kids, Joey, Ainsley and Naomi, moved into the district, and I've been actively engaged in the community ever since. I believe my role as a board member is to help set the mission, vision, and goals for the district. When I first ran for the board, I had a set of priorities I believed were important for our community, but in the time since, I've realized there is really only one priority that matters: we need to do the best we can with the resources we have to provide our students with a safe, equitable, high-quality education that inspires them to be creative, conscientious, and caring.

Brianna Powvens (Write-In)
Candidate for Unexpired 2 Year term
Biography
I am at stay-at-home-mom with two children in Woodland. Previously I was a high school teacher with a bachelor's degree in math and sociology. I will ensure families in our district have their voices heard. I stand for all students regardless of race, sexual orientation, or economic background. I will always remember that the school board is spending your money, and ensure money is spent intelligently. Because of my background, I will bring a mother's and teacher's viewpoint to the board decisions. I will vote to support all students with the same care I give to decisions that impact my children.

I am running for re-election to the Woodland BOE because I believe that each child should be provided a high quality public educational system where they can thrive and grow to become their best selves. I believe that the Board has an obligation to maintain the fiscal health of our district by acting responsibly with tax – payers’ dollars. I believe that Woodland District #50 has done a great job with developing top – notch curriculum and creating a nurturing learning environment for our diverse community of students and staff. I believe that we should strive to do better and I would like to be a part of that mission.
